New York City is one of the top tourist destinations in the world.

Visitors come to NYC to experience its cultural hub and historical landmarks. And New York in the summer is an electrifying experience you do not want to miss.

There are fun things to do in New York that speak to any personal interest.

And although this city is one of the most expensive places to visit, there are affordable things to do in New York. So put that extra money towards your accommodations and a good pair of walking shoes.

Let us discuss things to do in NYC this summer that are cost-effective and exhilarating.

Walk the Bridges

Summer activities in New York happen near popular pedestrian pathways and plazas. Walking the bridges is the best way to get into the action while catching some epic views.

Williamsburg Bridge

The Williamsburg Bridge connects two of the most trendy neighborhoods in NYC. Stop by Essex Market in LES for some delicious empanadas, then walk to an art show in Williamsburg.

Brooklyn Bridge

Brooklyn Bridge is a historical marvel that connects two major tourist hotspots. The bridge will take you to the Financial District where you can see filming spots for the show Law and Order. Or you can walk over to Brooklyn for dinner in DUMBO and a leisurely walk through Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Beach Hopping

You can also enjoy New York summer activities that get you away from the hustle and bustle. Get your sunblock and beach gear ready for these sweet escapes within the city limits.

Jacob Riis Beach

Jacob Riis Beach is in Queens and is on the National Park Registry. This federal registry preserves the beach’s appearance so you can enjoy a trash-free shoreline.

There is a topless section of the beach and a family-friendly section for the little ones. The beach is also LGBTQIA+ friendly, so come and spread the love.

Coney Island

Coney Island is a great place to let your inner child run wild. Ride the 95-year-old Cyclone or the newest Thunderbolt steel coaster at Luna Park.

After you scream your guts out, grab a Nathan’s hotdog and enjoy your meal on the sandy beach. If you are in NYC around the 4th of July, you can catch the annual Nathan’s Hotdog eating contest at Coney Island.

Broadway Shows

Head to Broadway while in NYC to see one of the many great shows. The ticket prices at the box office can be steep, but there are ways to save on show tickets. Click for more affordable tickets for the show you have been waiting to see.
