However, to have your hydraulic systems working well, they require maintenance to avoid damages. Below are tips to help maintain your hydraulic system. 

Examine the filter indicators

When dealing with hydraulic systems, most of them use a filter that has window indicators on them so that they may give you a visual indicator. The visual indicator on the hydraulic system will give you an insight into when you are to replace the system filter. Before you start to run your hydraulic systems, check the filter indicators and ensure that they are in good condition. Failure to first check your filters before running the systems may cause dirty filters to find their way in and corrode the entire system. When the system filters are contaminated with dirty filters, it causes damage to the servos system, hydraulic cylinders, and the system pump. 

Check the fluid level

Most industrial equipment has fluids in its tank. Therefore, before using any equipment, it is good to ensure that you check the reservoir to see whether there is enough amount of hydraulic fluid to run the systems. In case there is less amount of fluid in the tank, the hydraulics will not build fuel the systems require to do the job needed by them. If the hydraulic fluid is very low, it may lead to the pressure in the system dropping very quickly and the pump caveating making it unable to function well. Once you start using a specific type of oil in the tank, ensure you use the same oil and ensure high grade and good viscosity of the oil.

A simple way to check for air in the hydraulic system is to check the oil tank for any air bubbles that are getting out from the oil. The bubbles from the oil help you to know there is good air circulation in the hydraulic systems. If the oil is frothy on the surface as the systems are running it is a bad sign. When you go to check down the hole of the oil tank ensure that you use a flashlight to see if the oil in the tank is clear. Incase air bubbles are seen on top, this may be indicating that there could be some air leak in the hydraulic systems. For good aeration in the systems, ensure that the seals in the cylinders are well done. Apart from poor sealing of cylinders, good aeration may be disadvantaged when the hydraulic oil is cold or whether the oil is too viscous for the system. If air gets into the system, the hydraulic pump will make some noise since it will be difficult for it to pressurize the system well. 

Check the hydraulic fittings and lines

Ensure that you dedicate some time to examine the fittings and hydraulic lines that help the systems in running well. In case you notice cracks in the hoses or leaking, it is good to immediately call a person with the knowledge of the systems to repair them before the machine starts to operate. While the system is running, it is hard to notice any leakages in the systems. Therefore, it is good to create time and go through your systems before putting them to use. When pressure is in lines and the fluid in the system is warm, it is the best time for you to mostly discover a drip or leak in the system.
