TOURIST ATTRACTIONS IN MANLY, AUSTRALIA

Manly is a small but beautiful upcoming tourist destination in northern Sydney, Australia. While travelling to Sydney or Newcastle, you can definitely plan a short detour to Manly. If you include this city in your travel plans, you will be thrilled you did so. 

Manly is a full-fledged beach destination. With golden beaches in abundance, waterfront Manly restaurants attract a lot of tourists. The beautiful landscape with a cool breeze all over the place will mesmerize you. 

Other tourist attractions in Manly are as follows:

1. North head sanctuary

This sanctuary is a conservatory where tourists come across many beautiful florae, wildlife, and hanging swamps. It is said that nature gifts this place with tranquillity. Long walks through the bushes and the wildlife provides a delightful experience. The tourists get a fantastic view of Sydney harbour from the cliffs because this region is a part of the Sydney coastal walk.  

2. Quarantine station

This place is located on the north side of the Sydney harbour. There are some buildings enumerated under the heritage of Manly at the north head. These buildings were operated as quarantine stations earlier, and now they are conference centers, hotel complexes, and a restaurant complex. 

It is also a part of the Sydney harbor national park known for paranormal activities. Therefore, spending a night in this place is adventurous and challenging.  

3. Sealife sanctuary

This sea life sanctuary is a public aquarium. It is popular among the tourists who visit here. There are different types of marine animals like sharks, sea turtles, giant stingrays, and many others. 

Visitors are also allowed to swim with sharks in ‘Shark dive Xtreme.’ There is a colony of little penguins in the recent introduction called ‘Penguin cove.’ There is also a separate aquarium exhibiting the underground waters that are home to lionfish, seahorses, and octopuses. 

4. North Head

The top cliffs of North Head have fantastic views of the Sydney skyline, harbor, and the ocean. There is a ferry ride from the northernmost edge of the port. The Hornby Lighthouse is also visible from here. North head also bears boat diving sites that are exciting for the tourists to watch. The north head is famous for its fireworks during New Year’s Eve. 

5. Art gallery and museum

The first metropolitan gallery opened in New South Wales was the Manly art gallery. It is also known as MAGAM. This art gallery exhibits an incredible collection of Australian ceramics. It also has collections of over 120 pieces of work by Dattilo Rubbo. There are different ceramics, paintings, paperwork, museum objects, and even photographs in over 6000 items. 

6. Shelly beach

This beach forms a part of the cabbage tree bay and a protected marine reserve adjacent to fairy bower and north head. With an approximate depth of 12 meters, the shelly beach is popular with scuba divers and snorkelers. 

A large variety of marine life can be viewed in this shallow water. Shelly Beach has toilets, showers, and a café. It is a perfect spot for a family picnic with two free electric barbecues. It also has a café named ‘The boathouse’ for more formal dining.
