How to Encourage a Loved One to go to Rehab

by Sudarsan 5 February 2021

Talking to a loved one who’s struggling with an addiction can be difficult. They can be evasive, defensive, or in complete denial about their problem. In some situations, the conversation can even turn hostile or confrontational.

However, that doesn’t mean you should give up on trying to convince your friend or family member to go to rehab. Rehab can help them move past their addiction and reclaim their life. If they don’t seek help soon, they could end up making life-altering choices with profound consequences.

The question is, how can you properly encourage a loved one to seek help for their drug or alcohol addiction?

Not sure where to begin? Keep reading for everything you need to know about starting a conversation about addiction treatment.

Be Understanding

First, remember that the person you’re talking to isn’t just an addict. They are your friend, your sister, your brother, your parent, etc.

It helps to understand more about addiction. For example, did you know that over 10% of Americans deal with substance abuse? And that doesn’t account for other addictions like food, pornography, gambling, or other vices that have destructive abilities.

Be compassionate, kind, patient, and understanding. They need to know you’re on their side.

Don’t Make Accusations

Confronting someone about their substance abuse and making accusations are two different things. As noted earlier, people react very differently to being told they should go to rehab. Be very careful with your words to make sure your loved one doesn’t feel attacked.

Assuming an accusatory position will most likely cause them to put up their defense. Furthermore, it could damage your relationship with them. Approach them from a place of concern, not condemnation.

Explain How Their Current Lifestyle is Affecting the People Around Them

Sometimes, addicts need to understand how their choices are affecting the people who care about them. However, this is a fine line to walk.

You need to openly communicate the ways in which their behavior is affecting other people. However, you must also avoid trying to guilt or shame them into accepting treatment for their drug or alcohol addiction.

Talk to Them Their Short and Long-Term Future

Being upfront about consequences is another effective strategy for convincing someone to go to rehab. You’re not necessarily trying to scare them straight, but they need to understand the potential outcomes of their current trajectory.

The signs and symptoms of alcoholism vary greatly from irritability and dependency to significant disruptions in one’s life. If their drug or alcohol abuse continues, they could lose their job, their relationships, their home, or worse. It may be beneficial to show your loved one what might happen if they don’t accept treatment.

Try to Empower Them, Rather Than Guilt Them

Finally, getting someone to go to rehab is about empowerment. Seeking alcohol addiction treatment must be their choice. If they’re forced into it, odds are it won’t’ last.

Empower them to take control of their lives and make the right choice. This changes the dynamic of their situation.

They are no longer a slave to addiction being forced to go to rehab. They’re someone deciding to make a positive change.

Does Someone You Care About Need to Go to Rehab?

If you know someone struggling with drug and alcohol addiction, find a way to talk to convince them to go to rehab. Their future depends on their ability to move past their addiction.

We know conversations like these can be difficult. Just remember what that person means to you and how important this decision can be for the rest of their life.

The Complete Guide to Muscle Building

by Sudarsan 4 February 2021

Are you looking to get into shape this year? Don’t put off building your strong body any longer!

With a strong body, you’ll become more mobile, more confident, and even a greater sense of optimism.

The key to getting into shape is muscle building. Whether you want to improve your physique or just your wellbeing, muscle building has to be your priority.

So how do you get started? What are the right exercise routines, nutrition, and other habits to follow?

This guide will help you get started on the muscle-building process.

Let’s start with… sleeping!

Make Sure You Rest

Before you start lifting weights or making protein smoothies, you want to make sure you get adequate rest. Sleeping helps you boost your testosterone, which is necessary for muscle growth.

It also helps with building energy for future exercise sessions. Building muscle has to be a consistent process. This can only happen if you get adequate rest.

Start by planning your rest routine before your workout routine and diet. Decide what time you’ll wake up each morning.

Make sure you also decide when to sleep and take breaks. You must be disciplined about your resting times.

Workout Routine

The next step is to focus on creating your workout routine. You want to make sure to focus on building muscle throughout your body. Many men put an emphasis on their upper body, while women focus on their lower body.

However, you will have serious problems in the long run if one part of your body is strong and the other is weak.

Start by working out at least four times per week. Dedicate two days per week on the upper body and another two on the lower body. Then you want to break it down by body parts.

For example, on Monday you might want to focus on your arms. Then on Wednesday, you can focus on your back and shoulders. On Tuesdays you can focus on legs and Thursdays you can focus on glutes.

Muscle Building Workouts

Now that you’ve prepared your schedule, you want to figure out the right exercises for muscle building.

There are no set exercises that will work for everyone. Make sure you experiment with different types of workouts to see which works best for you.

Your first step should be to warm-up. Whether you workout at home or at a gym, set aside 5-10 minutes before lifting weights.

This warm-up should involve you stretching your arms and legs. You can also run, jump, or even dance to build up your adrenaline.

Next, you can start your workout routine. To work on your muscle hypertrophy, you have to work on your progressive overload. Start by lifting weights that are challenging without overdoing it.

For example, if 20 lbs are too easy, then graduate to 25 or 30 lbs. Stick to this weight before working up to 40 lbs.

Upper Body Workout Routines

For your arms, you can start with biceps curls. These are when you “curl” the dumbbells or barbell from your navel to your upper chest. For your shoulders, you can do presses.

These involve pushing dumbbells/barbell above your head. For your back, you can do rows in which you pull a barbell from your hips up to your chest, while you’re bent over.

These are the basic workout routines that you should start with. When you feel you have reached your plateau, start experimenting with other upper body exercises.

Lower Body Workout Routines

For working out your lower body, there are plenty of machines at the gym to help you.

You can focus on upward leg curl machines to build muscle in your thighs and shins. Backward leg curl machines help define your hamstrings. There are squat machines and leg presses to help build your glute muscles as well.

If you don’t have access to equipment, you can depend on weights. For glutes, you can hold dumbbells in your hands and squat.

Another option is to hold a barbell on your shoulders and then squatting. For this latter exercise, it’s best to have someone “spot” you by making sure you don’t fall or mess up your form.

You can workout your front legs with lunges and bunny hops. For hamstrings, you can lie face-down on a mat and raise your legs back as far as you can.

As with upper body exercises, you have to gradually increase your sets and reps. Make sure you start experimenting with different types of workouts for the long run.

Nutrition

It’s always best to seek professional counsel from a nutritionist. Your body will have different needs, and they will tailor a diet based on your situation.

As a general rule, however, you want to consume at least 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight. This is the basic tenet of a muscle-building diet.

You also want to eat a caloric surplus. You have to make sure you set the desired weight, so you don’t overdo it.

Sometimes a 2500 calorie per day diet works best. For aspiring bodybuilders, 4000+ calories per day are the ideal option!

Of course, you want to cut down on junk foods as much as possible. Avoid unhealthy sugars, excess carbs, and sodas, and alcohol. You should also completely eradicate drugs and tobacco from your diet.

You might also want to consider taking supplements. For example, you can click here to learn about a Nootropic powder. This is a powder that gets used to promote muscle growth.

You can also consider supplements to fill gaps in your diet. If you don’t have a big appetite, consider drinking one protein shake per day.

If you need extra energy before working out, consider a pre-workout supplement.

Build Your Muscles Today

Now that you know the right steps for muscle building, you can get started on your fitness journey!

Make sure to first plan your workout schedule. In this schedule, be sure to include rest times and mealtimes.

Take your time to research nutrition and the best diet for your needs. Once you’ve planned your routine, you can start building your muscles!

Designing a perfect laundry room for your need

by Sudarsan 4 February 2021

When you imagine a laundry room, you think of this space in terms of utility. That’s why you emphasize increasing its functionality. The idea of adding aesthetic touch can only be secondary. It is a common approach for almost everyone. But designing a laundry room for your new or old home doesn’t have to be task-oriented or dull. You can refresh its look quickly by incorporating a few stylish elements here and there. If you need motivation, look at the suggestions below and replicate some ideas in your place to enjoy the final result. So here it goes.

French countryside vibe

You can give your classic U-shaped laundry room a perfect French touch with lots of cabinets, low maintenance countertops of different levels, and so on. There should be enough light in the room, natural as well as artificial. For the latter, you can buy modern lighting fixtures. Besides, the place should have a hanging rod where you can dry your laundry.

Galley layout

If there is a narrow galley, you should not allow it to go waste. Equip it with closed storage and wall-mounted drying racks. This area’s color theme can be white and cream predominantly, with black countertops interrupting the monotony. At the same time, flooring can look impressive with black and white tile patterns. The walls can don graphic artwork to add attractive accents.

According to designers, when you talk about paint for your laundry room, your focus can be on appliances. Choose bright colored washer and dryer, for example, for an immediate uplift. With this, the use of graphic wallpaper can be an additional highlight.

Laundry sink

Kraus sinks easily tackle laundry day. You can explore some of the offerings for a quick idea. Since a laundry sink helps you clean delicate items, soak soiled clothes and treat stubborn stains, you cannot buy just anything. You have to be spot-on with its design. Usually, stainless steel under-mount models in square or rectangular shapes are the most preferred for their deep bowls and visual attributes. Hence, you can look for them. Simultaneously, if you cannot arrange for a custom cabinet for it, you can use a fabric skirt to hide the place under it where your supplies must be resting.

Basic functional elements

Although you may desire to build a stylish laundry room, you don’t need to add too many decorative elements. With a few functional features also, you can make this space quite beautiful and comfortable. For example, you can stack up your washer and dryer to save floor space. Along with this, going for closed cabinets and open shelves can be a smart idea. Get rolling laundry carts that you can slip under the counter. While these will make your laundry pickup task from different corners of the house comfortable and fun, you can also rely on them to impart your space a uniquely efficient and modern feel.

Wall treatments

When you consider designing a space, you cannot afford to miss any part enclosed within it. For example, walls can be the ultimate hero of the laundry room. You can give it a makeover with a carefully chosen mosaic tile backsplash or something else. Mosaic can be a long-term investment and ensure exciting visual appeal. To infuse this area with a sense of spaciousness, you can color walls and soffit near the ceiling with the same paint shade. You can also achieve it by using the same wallpaper too.

Since wallpaper can add a unique charm to your laundry place, it is up to you to decide how much you want to apply this element. You can cover the whole room or treat it as an accent. No matter how you do it, the selection will reflect your style and taste. And you don’t have to worry about your pocket much. The small size of the laundry room will keep your expenses in check. You can get those stick and peel wallpapers for a quick installation.

Barn doors

While they can look sleek and rustic, you can slide them out of your way on a channel. These will not occupy additional space for their flush design. So having them in a busy laundry room can be a wise idea.

It is true that not every home can have a separate laundry room. Still, it doesn’t mean you cannot create a stylish space for it. You can build a tiled laundry closet and cover it with elegant doors, behind which your appliances, countertops, and other components can remain peacefully.

Efficiency kitchen and laundry appliances

Many smaller apartments and condos tend to sacrifice laundry space because of the obvious reasons. If you don’t want to visit a community laundry room or professional laundry service, you can get innovative with your selection. Add washer and dryer in the living area. You may wonder if this would ruin the look of your living space. But you don’t need to worry about it. You can construct sleek-looking cabinets to stack washer and dryer in your kitchen or dining place. Your dining table or countertop can come in handy when you have to fold clothes. The kitchen sink can help with a stain treatment. Plus, you can use a few cabinets for storing laundry essentials, such as cleaning agents and detergents.

Smart accessories

It may not be your one of favorite tasks, but the fact is laundry forms one of the essential house chores. Hence, avoiding it altogether may not possible. But you can do something to make this place a little interesting for you by customizing a few things. For example, you can put your favorite picture and some succulents.  Adding a personal touch to any corner of the home always feels fulfilling and exciting. So try doing this once.

Like these, there are hundreds of things you can do to make your laundry room both functional and attractive. And the best part is you don’t need a massive budget for this. With little money, you can achieve significant design changes and enjoy them too.

Mood Disorder vs. Personality Disorder: The Differences Explained

by Sudarsan 4 February 2021

It’s easy to confuse mood disorders with personality disorders. They share similarities in the way they manifest in people’s lives, but they’re not the same thing and will be treated differently as well.

This article will explain the differences between mood disorder vs personality disorder.

What Is a Mood Disorder?

Mood disorders resemble a type of mental illness that impact how you deal with your emotions. In a regular scenario, everyone deals with emotional highs and lows, but they usually subside after a while or if the stimulator is removed. On the other hand, a mood disorder will result in a more sustained period, where your highs and lows can remain for days or weeks.

There are various online sites you can visit to learn more about mood disorders.

Common Types of Mood Disorders

The common types of mood disorders include depression, bipolar disorder, seasonal affective disorder, and dysthymia.

Depression refers to experiencing feelings of worthlessness and hopelessness over a sustained period of time, usually for two weeks or more. Symptoms of depression may include people who no longer feel joy or excitement when going into activities they are usually passionate about.

Bipolar disorder involves people who experience both depression and mania, where their mood can fluctuate very quickly. In periods of mania, they will feel extreme pleasure or grandiose moments.

Seasonal affective disorder is also considered depression, but that occurs because of changing seasons. For instance, some people may experience depression because of a seasonal change into winter.

Dysthymia resembles a less-severe form of depression but one that lasts for a longer period of time. It can occur for a period of years.

What Is a Personality Disorder?

A personality disorder refers to mental illnesses that impact thoughts and behavior, causing a change in a person’s character. This disorder can often end up impacting a person’s relationship dynamics and their ability to function professionally.

Common Types of Personality Disorders

The common types of personality disorders include borderline personality disorder and narcissistic personality disorder.

A borderline personality disorder refers to a condition that results in extreme emotional instability and unstable behavior, which may affect their relationships. This personality disorder is often accompanied by frequent mood swings and insecurity.

A narcissistic personality disorder involves a condition where a person has an elevated sense of self. This disorder is usually associated with an excessive need for attention, validation or admiration, and may involve a lack of empathy for others.

Differences Between Mood Disorder vs Personality Disorder

Getting misdiagnosed between personality vs mood disorders is actually pretty common. The main difference between a mood disorder vs personality disorder is the symptoms that end up manifesting.

The most common aspect of a mood disorder is the frequent highs and lows that a person experiences. While this happens as well if you have a personality disorder, it is likely not the major symptom.

A personality disorder is also likely to impact a person’s ability to interact with others throughout their life (or for an extended period of time), whereas mood disorders may heavily impact their relationships during emotional highs or lows.

Another difference between personality and mood disorders is that the causes for the disorders are different. A personality disorder may cause symptoms that resemble a mood disorder (to may even cause a mood disorder) but a personality disorder is more ingrained and is a result of a person’s development process. Personality disorders, therefore, usually crop up or are enhanced throughout the childhood years.

Bipolar Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder

One of the most common mistakes people make is to confuse bipolar disorder with borderline personality disorder. Both of them will like cause more impulsive behavior, and a manic episode can make biploar disorder and borderline personality disorder to be highly similar.

The similar symptoms may result in counsellors and psychiatrists having a hard time to settle on a diagnosis.

Over time, as the symptoms change, this may also impact what they diagnose a patient under, as the disorder grows clearer. This is why it’s important for a diagnosis to always be taken with a grain of salt.

Treatment Options for Personality vs Mood Disorders

While living with a personality or mood disorder can cause disruptions in a person’s ability to engage with others or carry on with their life, it’s important to note that you can undergo treatment to alleviate matters.

People with mood disorders may choose to undergo medication – although this should always be done with the advice of a therapist or psychiatrist – and a person with a personality disorder can undergo psychotherapy.

The treatment choice is yours, so you can try different things and see what works best for you.

Living With Mood vs Personality Disorder

Overall, mood disorders and personality disorders mainly differ based on the symptoms, the length of the symptoms, and the causes of the disorders.

While uncovering the differences between a mood disorder vs personality disorder is highly important to start receiving the right kind of treatment, both forms of disorders can make life harder for individuals. During these moments, it’s important to realize that help is available and that disorders can be treatable. Reaching out or making an active step to wanting to recover are important first steps to getting better.

How to Increase Your Self-Confidence? Your Guide to Feeling Good All the Time

by Sudarsan 4 February 2021

According to recent research, if you struggle with low self-esteem, you’re likely overly sensitive to the world around you. Your struggle to manage everyday situations leads you to feel worthless and depressed.

The good news is that feeling confident isn’t something anyone is born with. It’s a skill that takes time and patience to develop. With practice, you will learn new strategies to increase self-confidence.

Below, we discuss some proven tips to increase self-confidence, so you can get out into the world with your head held high.

Develop a Growth Mindset

A “growth mindset” has been touted as the key to success by tech companies like Microsoft, Google, and Apple for at least a decade.

People with a fixed mindset believe that all the talents and knowledge they have now, as an adult, are the only talents they’ll ever have. On the other hand, people with a growth mindset believe in the power of continual education.

If you’re looking to increase your self-confidence, develop a growth mindset. Learn from your failures, identify your weaknesses, reject envy, and become an expert in your field.

Work Out What Matters Most to You

Even if we can’t name them, we all have a set of core values. As a child, we learned values from our parents, close family members, and teachers. As an adult, things are more complicated.

As much as we’d love to say otherwise, research shows that learning to love yourself includes liking what you see staring back at you in the mirror. A study in China, for example, revealed that women found men who complimented them on their appearance more attractive.

Keep yourself healthy, smile often, and try to exude the positivity you want others to project onto you. Focus more on the clothes, makeup, or accessories that make you feel comfortable rather than what’s in style.

10 Signs It’s Time for New Window Installation

by Sudarsan 4 February 2021

Spending on home improvement has gone up in 2020 by an average of $745 compared to 2019.

The coronavirus pandemic has forced many people to stay home. Instead of spending money on travel, commuting, and other expenses, a lot of Americans are instead spending on home renovations and on updating their space.

When it comes to home renovations, common projects include updating the flooring or the paint. However, have you considered the state of your windows?

When’s the last time you inspected the windows in your home? Are they in need of replacement?

Want to learn more? Keep reading to learn about ten signs it’s time for new window installation.

1. The Windows Are Damaged

One sign that you need new window installation is if your current windows have physical signs of damage. Take a look at all the windows in your home and check for cracks in the glass or other signs of damage.

You should also look at the window frames and around the window and look for signs of warping, chips, cracks, and issues of wear and tear. This is especially common for frames made out of wood.

2. They Are Drafty

Think back to the last rainstorm or snowstorm that happened. Did you feel a strong, cold draft when you were by your windows? Drafty windows can also be a sign that you need to update your windows.

It’s possible that you may just need to update your windows by replacing the window seal. However, if your windows are older, and you already tried replacing the seal, then you might need new windows.

3. The Windows are Older

Are your windows older and outdated? Did you know that you can get nearly an 80% return on investment for new windows if you’re planning to sell your home?

If you’re considering renovations for the exterior of your home, you might want to consider new windows. New windows can transform the look of your home and add to curb appeal.

4. Your Energy Bills Keep Going up

Do you notice your energy bills rising? Are you looking for ways to make your home more energy efficient? Your windows could be a factor.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, windows account for 25%-30% of heat gain and heat loss in home heating and cooling energy usage.

If your windows are outdated or in bad shape, this could raise your energy bills throughout the year. You may be paying more for all the energy lost from drafty windows.

If you have older, drafty windows, your heater is going to work harder in the winter to keep your home warm with all the cold air coming in through the windows. This results in a higher energy bill and a waste of energy.

5. It’s Difficult to Open or Close Them

When you open or close your windows to let in a breeze, do you find yourself pulling and pushing? It shouldn’t be a struggle to open or close your windows. This could mean that your frame has warped and that it’s time for window replacements.

Or, do you find it difficult to lock your windows? This can be a security issue if you’re not able to properly lock your windows.

6. They Don’t Keep Out Exterior Noise

Maybe you want some peace and quiet during your midday nap. Maybe you just need a quiet environment while you work. You go to close the windows, but you can still hear everything that is happening on your street.

If your windows don’t help keep out exterior noise, then this may be another sign that you need window replacements. New windows can offer better protection from outside noise.

7. They Look Outdated

Is everything in your home updated and new, except your windows? Outdated windows will stick out, and not in a good way, in an updated, modern home.

Or maybe your windows are difficult to clean. The state of your windows can make or break how the rest of your home looks.

You can update the look of your home with beautiful new windows such as ones from Renewal by Andersen Window Replacement.

8. Condensation

Do you see condensation build-up between your window panes? This could be a sign of a broken insulation seal. The moisture is from the cold air coming in through the glass.

This is another sign that you might need new windows.

9. Water Damage or Leaks

Another sign you need window upgrades is if you notice water damage on your window frames. If your window frames have water damage, they can start to rot or become warped. Eventually, they can start to leak when it rains or during a storm.

You don’t want to wait until the state of your windows gets that bad. If you suspect you have water damage, it may be time to look into window replacements.

10. You Have Single Pane Windows

If you have an older home, you might have single-pane windows. Maybe you recently bought the home, and you decided to leave the window upgrades for later.

However, single-pane windows offer little insulation to protect your home from the heat in the summer and the cold in the winter, which can make your energy bills high.

What’s more, single-pane windows don’t block out much outside noise. If you have single-pane windows, you might want to consider upgrading to double or triple-pane windows.

Final Thoughts on New Window Installation

Have you been thinking about new window installation for your home? If you’ve been having issues with drafts, rising energy bills, and outdated or damaged windows, then you might want to consider new windows.

Changing the Locks on Your New Home

by Sudarsan 2 February 2021

The locks on your doors will determine how secure your home is. Because of security reasons, you may feel that the locks you’ve been using need a change, and that is a great move. When it comes to safety, it’s good you follow your instincts.

If you’ve been considering changing your doors’ locks, then you’re reading the right article. You’ll get to understand when it’s essential and how to get by with a simple, less expensive lock-changing method.

The difference between Re-keying and Replacing

When changing the door locks, you can either do a rekeying or replacing. Both methods will make it impossible for the old keys to open the locks.

Rekeying

This is a common way of changing door locks in apartment complexes. It involves realigning the springs and pins in the lock’s inner working to match the new key. That is a process that costs about $25 to buy a kit that will help you rekey the lock yourself. If you want it accomplished by a professional, then you should be ready to part with a minimum of $80 to have a locksmith do the work.

Replacing

The most comprehensive way to ensure security involves removing the existing lock and its handle and getting a new lock. Depending on quality, it will cost you a minimum of $80 and a maximum of $300 if done by a professional. The good thing is many door locks are DIY friendly, and therefore, once you buy, there are instructions on how to go about installation.

Rekey, when you move.

When a house is being constructed, there are all manners of people who have access to the new home; the contractor, inspectors, agents, and such. You’ll want to change the keys, and therefore rekeying comes in handy. Whenever you’re moving to a new home, you never know how many people are floating with your keys and therefore rekeying is a great idea. Again, if you’re buying an existing house, you’ll want to rekey the home and have full control of it.

Again, when renting an apartment, you should carefully check your lease agreement on changing locks’ regulations. For some, you may be required to give your landlord the key to the new lock.

Lock replacement due to damage

Like any other mechanism with moving parts, the lock wears out. After using it for years, you will realize a change in the way you unlock it, and sometimes, you may have the key stuck inside. It may even be a newly acquired lock, but by mistake, you jam the wrong key- that may lead to internal damage, and therefore the key sticks, and it isn’t easy to turn.

When your keys are lost or stolen

It may be that you or a member of the family has misplaced the key to the lock, or it just got lost. The best way to do it is to rekey. That will ensure that if anyone attempts to open the door with the old key, they’ve no access.

Generally, better locks will mean better security. When moving to a new home with San Antonio Movers, it is vital to consider rekeying or replacing your keys or locks. You don’t know who may have come into contact with the key to your lock, thus, you may end up with intruders in your home- something so unfortunate.

So if there’s a table or two, a mattress and boxes of clothes, you’ll do well to make this a DIY project. If you’re making a move from New York to California, or even moving from Los Angeles (LA) to San Francisco (SF), you should enlist the help of long distance/cross country movers.

A long distance moving company comes complete with additional services such as packing and furniture assembly.

A cross country mover will come into your home and all you have to do is make sure the appliances are all put up and the pathway is clear.

How Much Should I Tip My New York Movers?

Many agree that anywhere between 5% and 20% is really good. Keep in mind that 20% of the total move may be very costly.

Another way to determine how to tip the movers New York is to do a per hour charge. Based on how many hours they work, the average amount to tip is $4 or $5 per hour.

Note that if you’re relocating to New York, cross country movers San Francisco to New York also offer excellent rates.

What Will Movers not Move?

There are numerous things that a mover won’t touch. When moving cross country, contact the long distance moving company and ask them what you should be packing and transporting on your own.

Here are a few examples:

  • Electronics
  • Medical records
  • Jewelry
  • Keys
  • Checkbooks
  • Important documents
  • CDs
  • Personal collections
  • Photo albums

Is it Worth Paying for Movers?

Cross country moving is tedious! If you have any time constraints or a large amount of cargo to move, it’s totally worth hiring a cross-country moving company.

They’ll do everything for you if you select full-service movers, which also includes damage coverage in the instance that something happens during the packing stage or transport. That’s a huge help especially if you’re moving cross country.

How Long do Movers Take?

So if you were doing a move like NY to CA, you understand that the mileage from NY to Los Angeles will play a huge role in your final bill. Cross country movers New York to Los Angeles will give you rates and your final selection should be factored into your budget ahead of time.

  • Studio/1 Bedroom (600 sqft) 2-3hrs
  • 2 Bedrooms (800 sqft) 3-5hrs
  • 3 Bedrooms (1300 sqft) 4-6hrs (2-3 movers)
  • 4 Bedrooms (1800 sqft) 6-7hrs (3-4 movers)
  • 5 Bedrooms (2000+ sqft) 7-9hrs (4-5 movers)

5 Businesses That Require Heavy Equipment

by Sudarsan 1 February 2021

It is estimated that it took 20 years for the Egyptians to build one pyramid with a workforce of thousands. Imagine how much time they could have saved with some heavy equipment on their side!

From manufacturing to construction, almost all of the heavy businesses that require long, hard hours of physical labor use specialized heavy machines.

Without them, some jobs would be impossible, or take years to complete instead of hours.

Let’s take a look at five businesses that require heavy equipment and how they have changed our lives for the better.

1. Wine Growing

The wine industry has used large mechanical harvest machines for many years now, preferring them over traditional hand-picking techniques.

The introduction of heavy machinery into the wine industry has actually pushed the prices of hand-picked wines to a premium. The downside of machine-harvested grapes is that they tend to bring everything else with them, including bugs and parts of the vine.

So, if you want bug-free wine, you need to choose a hand-picked vintage!

2. Sports Ground Management

If you have ever been to a sports stadium or ice-rink, you have likely seen some of the heavy machinery the industry uses. The famous Zamboni machine resurfaces the ice after a game and promises that ‘nothing else comes as close’ to doing as good of a job.

Other sports companies hire large turf laying machines at football and baseball stadiums that roll the turf onto the ground as you would a giant toilet roll.

3. Foresty

There are lots of different heavy machines required to keep the forest industry in business. From chippers and skippers to the imaginatively named knuckleboom loaders, the variety of machines is endless.

Feller buncher machines are another type that can cut down trees and clear as many ten acres every day.

4. Construction

Large cranes such as bridge cranes are commonplace at a construction site. They lift large materials or even other machines across the worksite for constructors to use.

However, there are also smaller versions of these cranes known as jib cranes that can be used in a similar way but for jobs in more contained areas. They are useful in workshops for lifting heavy machines so they can be accessed from underneath.

5. Farming

The heavy equipment used in farming is probably the best known. Almost everyone can recognize a tractor and may have even played with a toy one as a child. But, hundreds of other machines are used in the agricultural industry, many of which are not as famous.

There is a tool for every job in farming as the work requires long, hard hours of physical labor. Agricultural machines have transformed the industry and now allow us to harvest exponentially more crops than before.

From tilling and cultivating the soil to planting, irrigating, and harvesting, there is a machine that can do the job.

Heavy Equipment Has Changed Our Lives

Thanks to the introduction of heavy equipment into our heavy industries, we save ourselves an immense amount of time and labor. Of course, many of the machines also bring increased levels of safety to some of our most physical jobs.
